2011 Metro League Chili Feed

Technical note: This post will stay on the top of the list until Feb 2.  Newer articles will appear below it.

Borderline annually – Metro teams have gotten together and shared a few pots of chili. The thought being – “let’s show up at the club a little early, drink some beer, and try other people’s chili.” Along with spicy/hot/sweet chili a few people have brought homemade cornbread, deserts, and store bought Fritos. This year we’re hoping a few other teams might want to get involved.

So – coordinate with the team you play against on February 2nd and bring a pot of chili (and some bowls and spoons and whatnot) to share with other teams. We’re thinking at least one pot of chili per sheet (8) would be a good number to share amongst everybody (too much chili can’t be a good thing). Show-up around 7:45 pm and enjoy the good times. Let me know if you’re interested –   jarett.anderson@gmail.com – and I’ll keep tabs on how many pots of chili are to be expected.

What to bring:

(1) Pot of chili per match-up

Fixings per your chili’s specificity

A serving spoon

Bowls and spoons for the teams playing in your match-up

Cornbread and deserts as you see fit

Comments

  1. Very interested in this. Are teams thinking of bringing fans/WAGs/whatevs that night too? Sort of a club event?

  2. It’s a good idea. Remember that the league is off next week so try to coordinate with your opposition this week concerning all things chili.

  3. There’s been some chatter about this – but I’m not fully sure who’s actually going to take part. There are at least 5 teams in for sure (Sonnabend, Jansen, McGovern, Dubois, and the Anderson Rink). There’s been some interest by other teams but nothing set in stone. We’ll see what happens, but it should be a good time regardless of numbers…I know I’m looking forward to it.

Does anyone from Lockwood read this? If so, would we like to coordinate some chili? I have a pretty awesome recipe I could do.
