  • Boomer – Beranek:  I’d love to pick Boomer this week, they sweep well, dress really well, and help old ladies across the street, but recent losses indicate that they aren’t quite ready to take on the well-rounded Beranek rink.
  • Arndt – McLellan: Arndt is part of the big jumble of teams vying for 3rd place, but McLellan is coming off a huge win before the break.  Steady play will give Arndt the edge this week.
  • Lawrence – Jansen:  Lawrence has established themselves as a force to be reckoned with logging wins against 3 of the top 4 teams but Doppler radar analysis has shown that they don’t perform well in the cold.  Jansen will take this match if the temp at 9:00 is below 5.
  • Wangensteen-Dubois:  These two rinks are seemingly identical, same record, very similar schedule, how does one choose?  I’m going to read the beans in my turkey soup….Dubois it is.
  • Stanek-Kruse:  Stanek has peppered a few wins across the league but Kruse appears to have the advantage here.  Look for a Stanek to take the first two ends but Kruse taking the victory.
  • Lichty-Erickson:  Lichty is on the rise and really looking to prove themselves in the second half of the season.  Erickson won’t go down without a fight however, look for this one to come down to the last shot with Lichty buying the first round.
  • Dveris-Rohde:   While the standings make it look like a clear case, the schedule tells a different story.  Dveris has played a lopsided first half of the season, but has shown that they can beat a top team.  Rohde’s schedule hasn’t been a picnic either, but I’m going to give the upset of the week to Dveris.
  • Sonnabend-Anderson:  Sure I could just pick Sonnabend every week.  They have only lost once, but now that we’re in the second half of the season, they’re going to have to work harder for their wins.  Anderson isn’t going to go easy either, they are another team looking to pull away from the pack and a win against Sonnabend would go a long way in proving themselves.  It’s fitting that this match take place on center ice.  I predict a 11:15 finish time with Sonnabend winning by 1.

My own rink has a bye this week, so there’s a decent chance that I won’t make it to the club.  If anyone can snap a picture of the standings sheet and send it to me I would really appreciate it.  Stay warm.

Good Curling.

  1. Sonnabend says:

Great pics this week Ole. What else are the beans in your turkey soup telling you to do?
I’ll report back to you with tonights results but this seems like a good opportunity for you to get some pictures and video of all the sheets. I’ll save you chair at our table and pick up your bar tab if you show up.

I think Lawrence vs. Jansen is going to be the game of the week. Lawrence definitely plays up to their opponents and Jansen always make things interesting… I’ll be keeping an eye on the scoreboard for that match.
