Week 15 Details

Hi Metro League.  I wanted to get this up early to make one last plug for the chili night this week.  It’s not too late to join up and participate, even if you don’t tell anyone, or even if your whole team can’t make it I’m sure there will be plenty of extras for you.  I guarantee that chili will be eaten.

  • Boomer – Dveris:  Both teams have similar rankings but Boomer put up a good fight and won against McGovern early in the season while Dveris did’t fare so well.  If they can bring their “A” game Boomer should slide to a spicy victory.
  • Arndt – Lichty:  Lichty is one of the few teams that has had a bimodal schedule.  They have played lots of bottom teams and a handful of top rated teams with mixed results.  Arndt has done better overall and have recently come off a five game win streak (broken by Lockwood last week), expect a hard fought but smoky win.
  • Wangensteen – Rohde:  Wangensteen continues to shock the league by wearing (comparatively) next to nothing on the ice, I’m not sure if this helps them, but it certainly adds to their sheet cred.  Rhode has been commanding respect throughout the season, but due to Wangensteen‘s tougher schedule I’m going to call them for the saucy upset of the week.
  • Erickson – Anderson:  Erickson has played many teams close this season, but has come up short in most matches.  Anderson, on the other hand, has a decent record that includes a high profile win a few weeks ago.  Anderson will turn up the heat early and mark a W at the end of the night.
  • Lockwood – Kruse:  This should be a great game to watch – two top five teams duking it out with Kruse looking to break away from the pack and Lockwood trying to remain one of the top teams of the league.  Records alone are not enough to call the winner on this one so I’ll consult the cheese bits and the sour cream and go with …. Kruse with a simmering victory.
  • Dubois – McGovern:  Both rinks have survived the mighty Lawrence and lived to tell about it but I’ve got a feeling about McGovern, a feeling that tells me I’ll be replaced if I ever pick against them.  Expect this one to boil down to some classic skipping by both sides.
  • Jansen – Sonnabend:  Jansen has wins across the middle of the ranking, but Sonnabend will be trying hard to keep ahead of the pack.  Sonnabend will play it safe this week with guards heavily peppered above the house.
  • McLellan – Beranek:  If McLellan finishes the season strong they have a chance of moving up a spot before the end so wins against them will not be easy but Beranek has shown that they can hang with anyone in the league.  A layered game (like an onion) will result in a V for Beranek.

There it is, you can put hot sauce on that and eat it.

Good curling.
