Week 16 Details

Dear Metro League,

The race to the end of the season is on.  Five weeks left to go and things are still pretty close, no one has locked up their position yet so there is still time for a lot to happen.  Here is the lineup for the week.

  • Boomer – Kruse:  Going by the records, Kruse has a slight edge this week, but Boomer won’t go down easy, their schedule is easing up going into the last few weeks and they really want to end on a winning streak.  The Boomer crusade starts this week.
  • Arndt – Erickson:  No one messes with the handlebar mustache. Arndt is moving up this week.
  • Lawrence – Dveris:  Lawrence is coming off their bye week having missed the chili and all the festivities but Dveris just hasn’t been able to get it going this year.  A refreshed Lawrence should be able to win this week.
  • Wangensteen – Lichty:  Lichty has suffered from a rotating cast this season while Wangensteen has kept it pretty consistent.  Last week I picked against Lichty and for Wangensteen and got both wrong.  This week I’m going with Lichty, don’t let me down.
  • Stanek – Rohde:  Rohde has done well against teams ranked lower than them and while there is a rumor floating around that being picked to lose helps fuel their enthusiasm, I’m going to try to jinx them by picking them to win.  Stanek, I’ve done what I can.
  • Jansen – Lockwood:  Jansen has shown that they can win games, but Lockwood has really established themselves as a major player.  Strangely the performance of Lockwood is directly tied to the NASDAQ which I predict will end up 0.35% at the end of the day.
  • McLellan – McGovern:  McLellan still has a chance to win a few more this season, but this won’t be the week.  Word on the street is that someone on the McGovern rink will be brining in some new equipment to secure the win.
  • Sonnabend – Beranek:  Sonnabend still has a few top teams to play this year before they can claim the league title and Beranek is one of them.  Beranek has plenty to prove and this could be the week that they do it.  It’s a call I don’ t want to make so I’ll defer to..um..random.org, looks like it’s Sonnabend.

Try to stay warm this week and finish strong, if that doesn’t work, have an extra beer before the match and you’ll do well.  See you at the club.

Good curling.
